Even though there’s no sign of summer in Vancouver, that doesn’t stop the world from turning and now that things are somewhat “back to normal (I hate that phrase) wedding season is well & truly underway. This is why I have done the hard work for you and found my top wedding guest dress picks to choose from. Also partially because I have not done a fashion post on my blog in many moons and its nice to mix it up a little.
Couple of trends I have noticed in the Wedding Guest Dress Category is that there are two dominant styles quite heavily different from each other – from the 80s styles of bold colors and shapes to the Sense & Sensibility Era of light and flowy, romantic dresses, I am not a huge fan of bold colors and random shapes but I have included couple of the signature 80s bodycon dresses. If you don’t know what Sense & Sensibility movie is, then well – either you’re too young or I am too old. I’d like to think its the former, for obvious reasons.

Summer Wedding Guest Dresses: Short Length
The short length dresses vary between loose long sleeved dresses, yet still very sexy, to bodycon dresses uber sexy but very youth looking. The one shoulder wine dress is definitely a statement piece for your wardrobe and strikes me as for the more mature individual, not everyone could pull it off. This would also be a beautiful piece to a formal dinner or gala.
Summer Wedding Guest Dresses: Medium Length
The medium length dresses present a vast amount of pastels and soft colors with some meshing and lace. Very feminine and romantic. The patterns are also very subtle as not to take away from the cut of each dress. My top choices would be the very first pastel green dress with wide straps and the baby blue dress with a beautiful cutout on the back. This season its evident that light blue and white are the two dominant colors.
Summer Wedding Guest Dresses: Full Length
Each of these full length or maxi dresses represent its own personality. They are very fun and vibrant, especially the off the shoulder butterfly pattern. They would work well for both an evening event as well as a beach day or a day out somewhere on vacation.
I have chosen each of these pieces carefully, as I truly believe in sustainable fashion and I am hugely against items worn only once. Each of these pieces can be worn to multiple events such as birthdays, baby showers, date nights, vacation, beach days and even some may be worn to church. When you purchase anything at all in terms of clothing, I encourage you to think twice, can this item be reused in different circumstances or paired with various accessories for a different look.
