Irish owned businesses in Vancouver you should know about

In today’s post I am bringing you a list of small Irish businesses based around Vancouver and Lower Mainland. Supporting small businesses is a passion of mine, you can take a look at some other businesses I’ve spotlighted on my blog thus far here and here.

Having spent my teenage years in Ireland and being married to an Irish man, it gives me strong connection to this rich, extremely fun and one of a kind culture. The Irish population in Vancouver is rapidly growing, and while the network and community is nowhere near as established as New York or Boston, its on its way there with more and more Irish owned businesses popping up.

This is why I thought it would be a great idea to put together a list of up and coming businesses, which may not be known to all in order to support them on their journey.

Gastronomy Writing

Vancouver is a city of foodies – it should not come as a surprise I am sharing the food & beverage industry first.

The Bandit Baker

As you can guess by the name, its a small pop up bakery officially located in East Vancouver, however its featured during various community events around the city. They operate their services as a pre-order only bakery with collection each Saturday between 9.00am – 1.00pm. If you would like your Brown Bread for Sunday breakfast this is the place to order from. They offer baked goods with a Twist, I suggest you check their menu for further details.

You can find them on Facebook or Instagram.

Crack On

Brought to you by two Irish lads, Crack On Van is serving you the best breakfast sandwiches with the main character: the egg. You can spot the Crack On Van at various local Farmers Markets and Community Events in their Yellow Truck. They offer Vegetarian and Gluten Free options. What’s even better, if you don’t want to go look for them, they come to you – their services are available on Uber Eats and Skip the Dishes.

You can find them on Facebook or Instagram.

The Wandering Tap

The Wandering Tap must be the newest addition to the Irish Businesses in Vancouver, with its official launch only recently for St. Patrick’s Day 2022 at the Celtic Fest in downtown Vancouver. They are a local pop up bar with a patio, servicing the Greater Vancouver Area.

This type of service is perfect for private corporate events, weddings, or birthdays. Their shell roof pavilions provide space for wrap-around custom banners for advertising for your event.

The bar on wheels offers local and international brews to choose from.

You can find them on Instagram.

Services writing

Moving onto businesses that can offer you a warm, Irish welcome.

Carry Immigration Services

Carry Immigration has been founded by Niall Carry 5 years ago. Niall has been living in the Vancouver area for the past 11 years and currently resides in Coquitlam. Niall is a regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant. Majority of support Niall provides, relates to Permanent Residency through Express Entry Streams, spousal sponsorship and common law partners; BC PNP streams, Work, Study and Visitor permits. His clients come from various countries and backgrounds such as Ireland, UK, Australia, United States, New Zealand, India & Bangladesh to name a few. Niall’s business is well established by now, however I thought he truly deserves a mention, as he is a very active member of the Irish and New Facebook Group where on occasion he offers a quick word of advice.

You can find Niall on Facebook or on his website.

Tancouver

Tancouver is run by Deborah, originally from Dublin; Deborah is a qualified esthetician for the past 15 years. She is passionate about providing sunless tanning products & solutions, having sadly lost her brother and father to cancer. Shockingly more people develop skin cancer from UV Tanning, than a lung cancer from smoking cigarettes. This should really be broadcasted far & wide. Tancouver is located in the West End (yeay for me) and they offer vegan (!) tanning solutions for all shapes and sizes. In addition Deborah offers 1:1 Business Coaching as well as opportunities to become a Tanning Artist.

You can find Deborah on Instagram or on her website.

Modmo

Modmo is an Irish founded company bringing you eBikes and rethinking your commute to work. Founded in March 2020 by Jack O’Sullivan in Dublin where to this day Modmo has its HQ. Jack traveled to Vietnam to source factories and partners that could bring his vision to life and in February 2021 the first bikes have been shipped. Modmo is on a journey to replace fossil fuels with green energy, keeping the air clean whilst saving the environment. Part of their mission statement is: “We believe that by 2025, every household in Europe will have an electric bike, and MODMO is striving to be an industry leader in design, technology and user experience.”
If you’ve been following me for sometime you will know, this cause is something I strongly believe in and work on improving with each passing day.

You can find them on Instagram or on their website.

The store offers variety of totes with Irish sayings and designs, which are reusable thus environmentally friendly as well as some adorable baby grows and bibs amongst other things.
