October is Women’s Small Business Month and as a female and an entrepreneur I thought this would be the perfect opportunity for me to collaborate with another girl boss and showcase a small local business at the same time. If you have been following my online journey for awhile you will know that aside from my full time job in finance, aside from blogging on this website I also run a Virtual Assistant / Social Media Management Company as a freelancer. Some say I’ve got my hands full, but hey who doesn’t love a challenge?
I have been looking for my first opportunity to collaborate with a business since moving to Canada, and supporting local is something I’ve always done. In the past I have collaborated and shed a spotlight on a number of local business in Ireland, details of which you can find here and here. These are only some of the businesses I have collaborated with to date, which is why this next step was a natural progression since moving to Vancouver.
Carnella Food Crafts has been created by Nelia in 2019 in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Nelia is a single mom, who is extremely creative – this is evident in her work and she’s very determined to succeed. Carnella Food Crafts is a Charcuterie Business; for those of you who don’t know what charcuterie is (I admit I didn’t until I moved to Canada and went into a winery in Okanagan 😉 ) Google it right now; your life will be transformed. Photograph below is one of Nelia’s recent creations:

How it all started:
Nelia studied Fine Arts at University of British Columbia in Vancouver; her skills and passion are evident in her work. Skills acquired in college now allow her to bring these compositions to life and bring her friends & family together. It is during her family gatherings Nelia saw the business potential in charcuterie boards: “I noticed when I used charcuterie boards people always stayed in one place and socialized more, basically connected more with each other. Then I thought what about portable boxes, so we can take it anywhere with us. These boxes are super easy to carry ,enjoy and can be recycled.”
Every positive feedback from a customer gives Nelia the strength to do even better in the next order. The boxes are called Rainbow Boxes because of their colorfulness and the magic power they have by bringing people together.
Each box is fully recyclable and may contain (depending on your order):
- Cured Meats
- Cheese
- Dips
- Fruit
- Vegetables
- Nuts
- Sweets
- Crackers
- Jams
- Olives

There are various sizes available and for a small surcharge they are delivered within Metro Vancouver, Coquitlam & Burnaby.
I am delighted to be collaborating with Nelia, as her story resonates with me on so many levels: The charcuterie she offers is healthy, nutritious and visually beautiful. She uses recyclable materials, which supports my environmentally friendly values, like me she is hard working, ambitious and a girl boss. Above all else she is trying to bring a little magic into your life by bringing you & your loved ones together, even if its just for a short while. Her creations deserve to be seen!
As part of our collaboration, we are doing a Giveaway on both of our Instagram Accounts. For a chance to be entered into a draw & further details head on over to my Instagram or Carnella Food Crafts Instagram.
